International Journal of Social Sciences and Education , 2011,
Abstract: The research was conducted to explore the improvements in the teaching of creative writing in English through action research. The objectives of the study were: to implement strategies to solve problems of teaching creative writing in English through action research, to examine the impact of those strategies on the teaching of creative writing through action research and to recommend strategies for using in the teaching of creative writing in English. Action research approach was used for this purpose. One Section of the 5th grade and its English teacher was selected from an F. G. Girls primary School in Rawalpindi as a sample. According to the spiral of action research, the methodology involved was plan, act, observe, reflect, revised plan, act, observe and reflect. Observational Checklist and structured interview from teacher was used as a tool to collect the data for the research. The results showed that this approach brought positive improvements in the teaching of the creative writing in English. It was concluded that this approach can be used to improve the professional development of the English language teachers. It was recommended that teachers should be empowered to adopt this approach in their future classroom practices. Moreover, they should be provided with opportunities to implement their planning related to the improvements of educational system by practicing action research as practitioners.
Conflict Zones of the Middle East: New Challenges in Search for Durable Solutions for the Arab Refugees  [PDF]
Misbah Saboohi
Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2018.94033
Abstract: Conflict zones of the Middle East (Iraq, Syria) have seen a new phenomenon of hardship by their people to reach safety. Finding refuge is now a challenge which has defeated the very spirit of United Nations organization (UNO) & its supporting agencies which were initially made to help the refugees. This article mentions the reluctance of states that United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) is facing to give protection to refugees coming from Syria and Iraq. It means that international legal framework developed post World War II is crumbling. Refugees are no more welcomed. The legal restrictions by the receiving states introduced a new problem of human trafficking. Refugees are “criminalized” for entering the receiving states without legal papers. These helpless people are now almost stateless due to losing promised protections of International law for the victims of wars. The state-parties to the 1951 UN Convention For Refugees, have abandoned treaty duties. This article outlines the international law challenges from the states about the refugees coming from Middle East. Article gives an overview for the current state practices of the 1951 UN convention for Refugee protection and later in the end, article offers some solutions.

Open Journal of Business and Management (OJBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ojbm.2018.61014
Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to identify and assess the factors which influence the consumer’s purchase intentions towards automobiles in Pakistan. After reviewing the literature, the most significant independent variables (price, product, after sale service, brand product quality and brand loyalty) were integrated together into a research framework and then the hypotheses were tested. The unit of analysis was the individual automobiles consumers in Lahore, Pakistan selected as random respondents. The sample size was 250. Simple regression was used to analyze the results. The findings depicted that the three independent variables—price, product and brand product quality—have a positive significant relationship with the consumer’s purchase intentions towards automobiles while the other two variables i.e. after sale service and brand loyalty showed insignificant results. The managers in the automobile industry as well as the policy makers will find this study helpful, when they will be making strategies (example marketing related) and also while developing auto policy.
vicK Gene as Potential Identification Marker for Staphylococcus aureus  [PDF]
Nurmusfirah Morad, Suzana Misbah
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2018.611010
Abstract:
Staphylococcus aureus is an important human pathogen frequently detected in hospital community and has emerged as an important health concern in human medicine. Identification of S. aureus from clinical specimens by phenotypic methods may produce variable characteristics leading to ambiguity. Hence, a rapid and reliable method for identification of S. aureus is required which could expedite appropriate antibiotic therapy. This study aimed to evaluate the specificity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting a signal transduction gene, vicK, among S. aureus isolates of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. A total of 118 bacterial isolates were screened, which consisted of one hundred S. aureus isolates, ten Staphylococcus spp. and eight non-Staphylococci. Results indicated that PCR targeting vicK was able to identify 98% of S. aureus isolates with high sensitivity and specificity, while the remaining isolates of Staphylococcus spp. and non-Staphylococci did not yield any amplification of the gene. vicK thus, is highly specific within interspecies and intraspecies, which is potential to be used as a molecular identification marker for S. aureus.
Synthesis, Spectral and Electrochemical Studies of Complex of Uranium(IV) with Pyridine-3-Carboxylic Acid  [PDF]
Misbah Nazir, Iftikhar Imam Naqvi
American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2013.43018
Abstract:

The investigation of complexation of uranium with biological active ligands is vital for understanding uranium speciation in biosystems. A number of studies have been undertaken for investigating the complexation of uranium in its (VI) oxidation states but similar investigations pertaining to the interaction of uranium, in lower oxidation states, with biological ligands is scarce. The aim of the work is to bridge this gap and studies have been carried out to determine the coordination pattern of pyridine-3-carboxylic acid with uranium(IV). Semi-micro analysis, spectro-analytical techniques, magnetic susceptibility and cyclic voltammetry have been employed for the characterization of the synthesized complex.

Clinical Perspective on the Management of Hypertension
Muzaffar Iqbal
Indian Journal of Clinical Medicine , 2012, DOI: 10.4137/IJCM.S5475
Abstract: Hypertension is an important medical and public health issue all over the world. It is one of the most prevalent conditions seen today by clinicians in both developed and developing countries. Depending upon progression of systolic and diastolic blood pressure it is classified into stage 1, 2 and 3 hypertension. Life style modifications may be helpful in initial stage but pharmacological treatment is necessary when it become difficult to control it. In routine practice, pharmacological treatment is being selected from diuretics, β-blockers, calcium channel blockers and renin angiotensin system inhibitors either alone or in combination for both initial and maintenance therapy. Choice of drug depends upon favourable effects in specific clinical setting. Thiazide type diuretics are being preferred for most patients with uncomplicated hypertension whereas β-blockers show strong benefits in patients with a variety of cardiovascular complications. ACE-Inhibitors and ARBs are superior to other class in patients with multiple risk factors like obesity, insulin resistance or diabetes. CCBs compared with other class of hypertensive drugs demonstrate similar blood pressure lowering effects and similar reductions in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality but higher incidence of heart failure and fatal myocardial infarction in some patients. Despite the continued decrease in mortality and morbidity rate by these antihypertensive drugs, some documented increasing prevalence of cardiac failure and end stage renal disease remains to be explained.
